2015 BAFTA Nominee lllustrations by Malika Favre – What Inspires Us? by Design Happy
French illustrator Malika Favre has created stunning block colour images for the BAFTA Awards that show two sides to the story.
“The idea of something hiding in the illustration came quite naturally,” Favre says. “It was a way of telling the story in one image, and combining two images into one.” She adds that the concept examines both past and future, such as with her interpretation of the Theory of Everything.
Working with consultancy Human After All, which designed the advertising and print collateral for this year’s show, Favre based her illustrations on “The Big Reveal” – the consultancy’s award campaign that focuses on intrigue and mystery.
The concept was first conveyed through her design for the awards poster, which shows a woman in a gown holding an envelope, which is then revealed as a microphone in the image’s shadow.
The theme was then carried across the nominee illustrations, which will be used as front covers for the event brochure, given out to guests at the awards ceremony yesterday.
